Hi Julie

I must admit I haven't read right through this thread but just wanted to wish you well with everything. Sorry to hear about your husband's job as well as your own, such a difficult time for you both. Do try to stay positive, although understand how hard that is at times.

Hope the Humira arrives soon and you find some improvement in the RA very soon. I inject my Enbrel into my stomach and have no problems (didn't much like thighs though, even though they're fat!! Always bruised.). I'm sure once you get the hang of it you will be fine.

Summer hols for you at last. Enjoy your special time with Jimmy.
Thinking of you, take care

Lyn x

PS My scissors didn't go anywhere near Julie's beautiful green dress. It's torn because she keeps shinning up places like flagpoles and other suitably unlikely places!!
My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

It seems things are not as simple in Sheffield Julie and Doreen. I got a call back from the rheumy nurse yesterday. They were going to 'squeeze me in' next Tuesday. I mentioned that I would be on holiday when the second injection was due and she has had to rearrange the appointment. Apparently, I've got to go to the ward and take the Humira in a cool bag. They then take your blood and wait for the results to come back. Then they give you the first injection. Then wait for half an hour or so just to make sure no bad reaction. Then you have to go back for the second injection and if all ok they will let you have a crack at it yourself. I was hoping that I could do it myself straight away. I don't have any reservations about injecting myself. I now have to wait until 23 August which is Jimmy's birthday and I have to be there at 9am ThumbDown They can't fit me in before my hols as the week before, the ward is partially closed as a lot of them have to attend a trial Huh . Still - I am further on and have a date now.

A trial? Scared

What a performance. It's a shame you can't get started on it straight away, but like you say, at least you have a date now.

Where are you going for your holiday?

Doreen xx
